If you already have a Squarespace website and purchase a new template, the template will exist as a separate site and won’t automatically apply to your current website. Here's what you can do:
Transfer Content to a New Site: You can start fresh by manually moving your content (text, images, blog posts) over to the new template and transferring your domain. You’ll also need to cancel your current subscription and start a new one for the updated site (Squarespace Support can definitely help with the refund if you already paid for the yearly subscription!)
Hire Me to Help with the Transition: Moving your content and getting your new site up and running doesn’t have to be a solo project. I offer a Template Customization Package specifically for this type of transition. With this package, I’ll take care of all the details for you—from transferring content to perfectly adapting your new template so it looks polished and professional.

To transfer everything from your existing Squarespace site to a new template, you'll need to manually move your content over. Here’s a quick rundown of the process:
Copy & Paste: Start by copying the text from your old site (like blog posts, services, and about pages) and pasting it into the new template pages.
Images: Download images from your current site and upload them into the new template.
Blog Posts: If you have lots of blog posts, you can export and import them into your new site using Squarespace’s blog export tool.
Domain Transfer: Once the content is ready, transfer your domain to the new site. If you need help with this, Squarespace has detailed guides—or we can assist you with it!
Subscription: You’ll also need to purchase a new subscription for the new template site. If you have time left on your old site’s plan, you can reach out to Squarespace support for a prorated refund.
